Over several decades the Dayak Ma’ayan have been significantly affected by deforestation for timber, coal mining and agricultural expansion. Despite these challenges, the community has shown resilience and dedication by implementing numerous initiatives to protect their forest. This includes tree planting along river banks and former mining sites, displaying their commitment to restoration and conservation.
Working with the Indigenous Dayak Ma’ayan offers multiple advantages, including support for frontline and marginalized communities. These communities possess invaluable knowledge of local forests and biodiversity, and any support will empower them to continue safeguarding their environment.
